This will be a nice change-up to the past several rides, which I think riders will enjoy. The route will start with Fosters Clockwise, the way it is mostly ridden, and is arguably a smoother ride over the worn down roots. Bridge to Bridge will be ridden in both directions, maintaining tradition. Gar Pond will only be ridden once, in the direction most people ride it. We will skip a piece of Beast,as riders will ride the double track from Gar Pond under the US41 bridge to SAG 2 on Egypt. they will have the option of the Florida Trail for the experts, or our trail for everyone else, before completing the Beast and then riding out to Big Shoals on the Palmetto Trail.
After lunch the ride will be Road 1 to Little Shoals entrance, then Road 7 all the way around to the start of Mossy Ravine to the other half of Beavor Loop, and then across US 41 to the Power Line Parkway to SAG 3 at Wayside Park. The finish is Bridge to Bridge and Adams Memorial Drive around the Cemeteries to Railroad St to Adams Memorial (look at the map and the signage!), to Kenneth Hutchinson (nee Suwannee St) to Bridge Street. of course, just like in the car commercials, your mileage may vary!
There is always a traffic jam at the start of the singletrack. I suggest we try to implement a "chicane" which slows riders down and narrows the Riding area before the turn into the singletrack. Rider will come through the North gate of the Park, and onto a double track at the campground entrance. Before they make the right turn (behind the craft buildings) we put cones and tape to narrow and wiggle their path to slow the riders down and hopefully create a single file without anyone noticing!)
We will have two-way traffic on Beavor Loop in two places. Both will be Green morning traffic and Red afternoon traffic. The first section is from the US 41 entrance to the bridge, as we've had for twenty years. The second place will be where the riders come out of the Beavor Loop singletrack and ride 30 feet before dropping into the Ravine Trail. Afternoon riders will be coming up Road 7 and cross those 30 feet going the opposite direction following Red signs to complete the Beavor Loop.
